Stones The Card: Ace of Stone The Name: The Standing Stone The Image: In a grassy glade children cavort about at the base of a large standing stone. The Interpretation: All things material, earthy, sensual and fertile are represented by the Earth-suit of Stone. Here joy in these things in emphasized—in distinct opposition to the Greek notion that the material world is evil or unreal. As a person: Someone who unapologetically enjoys the material things: home, family, food, sex and wealth. As a time: A time when the material world is going well. Reversed: Get your head out of the dirt and look around. There's more to life than what you can buy or sell.
The Card: Two of Stone The Name: Grinding Corn The Image: As both the sun and the moon stand in the sky, a woman grinds corn with a stone on a stone. The Interpretation: Masculine and feminine, night and day—apparent opposites are not mutually exclusive. An either-or decision is being asked of you, but what you need to do is throw out the implied duality of the question. You can do or be both, or neither, if you choose. As a person: Someone who takes the middle path in things. As a time: A time of decision making. Reversed: You are having trouble discerning right from wrong—perhaps the problem lies in some of your basic assumptions.

The Interpretation: The beginnings of the new are enclosed in the endings of the old. The seed is within the fruit, and the fruit is within the seed. As a person: A child; someone who faces a new beginning. As a time: A time of bearing fruit; a time of contemplation. Reversed: The futures in things, the potentials, are not as important as the right now.
The Card: Four of Stone The Name: Four Corners of the Earth The Image: The Earth is laid out, with a pillar of stone marking each of the four directions. The Interpretation: The whole world is before you, all options are open. Choose a path based on what you want, or blaze a new one—it's all available. As a person: Someone with her whole life in front of her; Someone who is overwhelmed with too many options. As a time: Any time of universal opportunity. Reversed: Stop running around and stick to path that's been pointed out to you.
The Card: Five of Stone The Name: The Great Rite The Image: The Great Rite is performed on an altar in a freshly planted field. The Interpretation: As above, so below. The actions and rituals of individuals can have an effect on the world in a larger scale, just as this couple's sex act is said to aid in the fertility of the field. Also, a reminder that sex itself has a larger, spiritual component. As a person: A sexual being; Someone who has studied Sex Magic; A high priest or priestess. As a time: Planting time; Initiation. Reversed: Beware of using spirituality as an excuse for something you want to do anyway. Be honest in your motives.
The Card: Six of Stone The Name: Building Together The Image: Two people labor together to build an altar from six stones. The Interpretation: Many hands make light work. By cooperating, you can build something bigger and better than you could alone. As a person: A builder; Someone who cooperates well. As a time: A time when folks need to come together to do something right; A barn raising. Reversed: Two people can also work together to build something that should never have been brought into the world. You should cooperate to demolish what you cooperated to build.
The Card: Seven of Stone The Name: Chakras The Image: A dim figure sits in the lotus position. Seven stones set at the points of the seven chakras glow along its spine. The Interpretation: Take time to ground and center. When everything's in order and connected properly, the energy can flow more freely. Meditation, visualization and exercise are necessary to keep everything in working order. As a person: Someone with poise; someone who meditates or performs yoga regularly. As a time: A time for taking care of yourself. Reversed: You are out of whack. Seek help in remediating, you probably can't put yourself back in order.
The Card: Eight of Stone The Name: Balance The Image: A scale is piled with eight stones, unevenly distributed but perfectly balanced. An honest merchant watches over the balance. The Interpretation: All things will balance fairly, at least on the material plane. You will receive what you deserve, debts will be paid, and karma will respond visibly so all will be even. As a person: Someone who is fair in all things; someone who measures things; someone who is well-balanced. As a time: A time of payment; a time when things balance. Reversed: Things will still balance, but it may be you who is paying the debts.
The Card: Nine of Stone The Name: Emergence The Image: A pale, skinny youth emerges, blinking, into the sun after a long self-imposed incarceration in a cave. The Interpretation: A time of solitude is a necessary part of your initiation into the things that are your birthright: maturity, power and wisdom. When you return to the light of day you will be changed. Careful, others who don't know what you've been through may not understand. As a person: Someone who is returning from a long absence; Someone who has unexpectedly changed. As a time: A time of solitude or apartness ending. Reversed: Don't you think it's about time you came out?
The Card: Ten of Stone The Name: Attaining the Peak The Image: An old man, who shows all the marks of having traveled long, reaches the end of his journey at the pinnacle of a craggy peak. The Interpretation: You will reach your goal, pass your test, and pass on to the next cycle of your challenge. As a person: One who is constantly striving, for good or ill. As a time: The moment of success. Reversed: You got what you wanted: now what?
The Card: Champion of Stone The Name: Magic Beans The Image: A crossroads is marked with a stone. Standing by the stone is a man holding out a handful of magic beans. On his hip is a bag of gold. The Interpretation: You are being issued a challenge, a call to adventure. There will be great rewards, but also great risks. Go for it. As a person: An adventurer; a youngest son; someone seeking his fortune. As a time: A time to wander; a time to explore. Reversed: What, are you crazy? You'd seriously consider trading your cow for that?
The Card: Heir of Stone The Name: Fat Baby The Image: A fat, happy baby sit on a grassy lawn playing with rocks. His family watches from nearby. The Interpretation: The beginning of all good things is at hand, and if you enjoy them without reservation as a baby does, more will be granted to you as you grow. Never mind being careful, your family is watching out for you and will kiss your hand if you bang your fingers. As a person: A new baby, or someone so new to their current situation they are overwhelmed. A kid in a candy shop. As a time: The very beginning of things. A birthday. Reversed: You need to look around you once in a while. You're being selfish and thoughtless, and you're going to get hurt and lose your toys unless you grow up.
The Card: Consort of Stone The Name: Gnome King The Image: The somber face of the Gnome King is visible in the boulders and crevasses of a cliff face. The Interpretation: Seeing the divine is often a matter of how you look at things. Heaven isn't the only place to look. If you work to create a connection with the Earth, and with your own inner self, all sorts of amazing things will make themselves plain to you. As a person: An earthy man; someone who can see hidden things. As a time: A time of altered consciousness. Reversed: You seek the Divine, but you ignore the signs It sends you because they aren't in a form you expect.
The Card: Monarch of Stone The Name: Stone Queen The Image: A fecund Goddess figure of smooth white stone reclines in a grassy glade. Garlands of flowers decorate Her form. The Interpretation: All good things come of the Earth, yet she is a cold, impersonal Mother. Things are born and die, as is the natural cycle of things in the physical world. Enjoy life to the fullest, appreciate what She gives you, and don't try to keep the cycle from turning. As a person: An Earth Mother type, fertile, sexual, living in the moment, and benevolently uncaring. As a time: A time to recall the natural order of things, and perhaps celebrate them. Reversed: Arrogance has blinded you to the natural order. Look around you and you will see signs of how things ought to be. Relax into the cycle.
