Glimmer

A silvery fish darts through the darkness,

A vibrant sliver of life in the black abyss.

A dandelion grows through the cracks in the pavement,

A reminder that even in death there is life.

A small child laughs in the middle of the slum,

A sign of great wealth in the heart of desperate poverty.

A nightingale's song awakens me from my nightmare,

Another Voice may awaken me any Day now.

God shines down on the world

Even in the deepest dark,

And His word, His gestures of love

    Show in all these signs,

Though most of them have never once entered a church.
