The Fool (Christ variant of "To Lucinda IV: The Idiot")

O, I know the weight of the moon,

And the ways of the stars,

But in truth, I know nothing at all--

    I don't know You.

I know Your Names, and the sound of Your voice,

And the touch of Your hand--

But still I don't know You.

I know how I feel when You're in my life,

How my plans fall to the floor,

    And I just believe.

I know how I feel when you're gone,

My life an abyss.

Yet still I don't know You.

I know my wants, my wishes, my dreams,

I know the feelings I have, yet--

    I know not You.

I wish I could know You,

Know Your thoughts, know Your plans.

I wish I knew what to do

    To get to know You.
